Renault-Nissan and Microsoft partner to deliver the future of connected driving

The Renault-Nissan Alliance and Microsoft Corp. have signed a global, multiyear agreement to partner on next-generation technologies to advance connected driving experiences worldwide.

The companies will work together to develop next-generation connected services for cars powered by Microsoft Azure, one of the company’s intelligent cloud offerings. These new services will improve customer experience via advanced navigation, predictive maintenance and vehicle centric services, remote monitoring of car features, external mobile experiences and over-the-air updates.

“A car is becoming increasingly connected, intelligent and personal,” said Ogi Redzic, Renault-Nissan Alliance senior vice-president, Connected Vehicles and Mobility Services. “Partnering with Microsoft allows us to accelerate the development of the associated key technologies needed to enable scenarios our customers want and build all-new ones they haven’t even imagined. We aim to become the provider of connected mobility for everyone with one single global platform.”

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the introduction of Intelligent Vehicle Towing (IVT), a fully automated vehicle towing system, at its Oppama Plant.

Nissan has worked on making the relationship between people, cars and society more exciting under its Intelligent Mobility vision, a framework for how cars will be driven, powered, and integrated into society. This new project, which utilizes mapping and communication technologies to link an intelligent and all-electric car to infrastructure, is a step towards the realization of Nissan Intelligent Integration.

Volvo Trucks’ New Live Test ‘The Flying Passenger’ Spotlights Unique Powertrain Performance in Spectacular Paragliding Stunt

Volvo Trucks is back with yet another spectacular Live Test. During the breath-taking ride, the Volvo FH tows the paraglider up a steep mountain road and under the narrow opening of an overhanging bridge. The tight space calls for high precision driving at a constant cruising speed without any room for error. The test was set up to demonstrate Volvo Trucks’ unique power-train, fitted with I-Shift Dual Clutch, enabling excellent performance whilst at the same time considerably lowering fuel consumption.

2017 Nissan Rogue takes over Los Angeles Auto Show with help from stormtroopers

Nissan unveiled the last of four new vehicles debuting at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2017 Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition. The dramatic reveal featured a special interactive presentation of the Intelligent Safety Shield technologies available in the redesigned 2017 Rogue (known as X-Trail in the Middle East)  against a high-action video. The video was followed by a drive-out of a pair of the Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition vehicles accompanied by battle-ready stormtroopers.

‘Flying water taxis’ are coming to Paris soon

London may have lost out to Paris in the race to become the first city in the world to be served by high-tech and environmentally-friendly “flying” river taxis.

The futuristic egg-shaped river shuttles, the creation of French yachtsman Alain Thébault and Swedish windsurfer Anders Bringdal, are due to be tried out in the French capital next spring at the request of the environmentally conscious city hall.

The new e-NV200 Work-space isn’t quite as extreme as that slide-out design, but it does have a more modern look and feel all around, starting with the 106-mile (171 km) range, all-electric e-NV200 it’s based on.
