At this year’s BBC TopGear Magazine Awards, the Bugatti Chiron1 was presented with the accolade of “Hypercar of the Year”. The jury gave the following reason for its decision: “The thrust from rest to 100 mph (161 km/h) is insane but the way it bulldozes its way through the next 100 mph is spooky, and it just keeps going.”
The Chiron is designed not only for maximum speed but also to meet the highest possible demands in terms of luxury, comfort, everyday drivability and durability. It combines the best in all these areas and embodies a harmonious concept that makes it a unique super sports car. And the Chiron is also a success story. One and a half years after its world debut at the 86th Geneva International Motor Show, more than 300 vehicles have already been sold. Only 500 of these exceptional cars are to be made.

Just another weekend, just another hot car test, eh? Arf. The new Mercedes-Benz SL 400, as you will notice, isn’t your typical hot convertible. Sportscar? GT? Saloon? The new Mercedes-Benz SL 400 remains hard to categorize. H.Soukar finds out how the range-topping supercar stacks against all its competitors.
The new Mercedes-Benz SL 400 looks completely different from the standard car, not least with its extraordinary exterior lines reminiscent of an SLR. The new Mercedes-Benz SL400 picks up minor styling changes, updated technology and a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The colossal front end sweeps through to the passenger cabin and wide rear. It features signature chrome hood elements, gills on the sides.
A three-part roof, with sections consisting of steel, rubber, and plastic, folds away at the touch of a button in a mere of less than 17 seconds.
More about this in the following video:
I spent time driving with the roof on and off and found that the new Mercedes-Benz SL 400 doesn’t scuttle shake anywhere near as badly as it once did.

The Nissan Patrol NISMO has been awarded ‘SUV of the Year’ at the Wheels Car of the Year ceremony.
During the publication’s annual Car of the Year (COTY) awards, the Patrol NISMO challenged its major competitors before an esteemed judging panel. The Nissan was labelled the strongest vehicle in three major categories: desert capability, on-road performance, and comfort.
“Patrol leaves them in the dust,” explained the judges in the award citation. “The 5.6-liter V8, mated to a slick seven-speed automatic, has been poked and prodded to deliver more performance, and with all four wheels digging in for added traction, along with its off-road ability still intact, this is actually three cars rolled into one. It’s still a brilliant family car with loads of room for seven adults to sit in total comfort. It’s a superb off-roader with all sorts of driver aids to tame difficult terrains and it’s a sporty SUV, too. It can do it all and sure is deserving of this accolade.”

Aston Martin has chosen the 2017 Geneva Motor Show to launch AMR – an exciting new brand that brings a new dimension of race inspired dynamism and performance.
Reflecting Aston Martin’s racing pedigree, AMR takes technology and inspiration from motorsport to amplify the sporting prowess present across the model range. With enhanced performance, sharper dynamics and more powerful design language, AMR takes Aston Martin’s road cars to new and exciting extremes.
The AMR brand follows in the wheel-tracks of successive iconic Aston Martin road cars which boasted top-level racing pedigree. In the mid-1930s the success of Aston Martin’s Team Cars in the Ulster TT road race led the marque to build further examples of the lightweight two-seater for sale to the public. In 1951, Sir David Brown introduced uprated and highly desirable ‘Vantage’ specification models, and steered the marque to an historic outright win at Le Mans with the iconic DBR1 in 1959.
Since the formation of Aston Martin Racing (AMR) in 2004 Aston Martin has enjoyed success in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), winning the 2016 FIA WEC GT Drivers Championship, while also securing three class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans over this period. Similarly, Aston Martin Racing’s GT3 and GT4 racers have secured countless victories and championship titles around the world.

Have you ever seen a luxurious five-star hotel suite making its way throughout the streets and highways? This is no puzzle, guys! It seems that Volvo has made its mind to turn boyhood dreams into reality. To clarify, I am not talking about “all show, no go” concept car here. This whip is real and being driven–it’s the 2017 Volvo S90 T6.
The 2017 Volvo S90 T6 features bespoke styling elements. Many of them are drawn directly from the masterpiece XC90. Despite retaining the same specs of the said XC90, this luxury sedan sports a different grille and unique headlight and tail-light graphics as well as added chrome and individual wheel designs.
The 2017 Volvo S90 T6 revamps up performance and luxury for a reasonable price. The car is but a younger brother to the XC90. It seems that the designers went a little bit away from the square-ish design. It worked in Europe but not globally. Some people find it a bit too different.

The Chevrolet Camaro clearly deserved to win our 2016 Car of the Year accolade. Why’s that? Because the sixth-generation Camaro is based on General Motor’s awesome Alpha platform architecture, the same structure that underpins the Cadillac ATS and CTS, the latter being our 2014 Car of the Year. Additionally, we’ve long felt that the ATS has been a burbling V-8, a smart transmission, and an interior upgrade away from KO-ing the BMW 3 Series. Especially as you can absolutely make the argument that GM’s core competency is the small-block. Long story short, we have a history of loving the wondrous-to-drive, lightweight, aluminum- and high-strength-steel intensive Alpha platform. But man, have we been waiting for the General to offer a small-block with a manual transmission.
Advancement in Design
Obviously, the sixth-gen Camaro looks closely related to the fifth-gen version. Since Chevy sells more than 80,000 Camaros a year, we understand why the automaker went for evolution as opposed to a revolutionary design. That said, the new Camaro design is excellent. “The surface handling is fresh, and the line work is great,” Gale, our legendary guest design judge, said. “The biggest area of visual change is likely the C-pillar and quarter window area for most people. Wheel to body, gesture, and overall graphics add to a very nimble appearance, especially the rear three-quarter view.”
