EMC, EGA and ADSC to Donate AED 75 to Charity for Every Birdie Scored at 2018 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

In collaboration with Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) and Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), EMC has pledged to donate 75 AED for every birdie scored by the players during the tournament, held from 18th to 21st January at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, as part of its Drive for Charity campaign.

This year, EGA has generously joined to triple the donation to the chosen entity, SEDRA Foundation, a non-profit organization that facilitates the inclusion of people of determination in the UAE. The contribution will jumpstart an initiative to support sports and healthy active lifestyles for young adults.

Ramez Youssef, Group Head of Marketing & Communications at AL FAHIM, said: “As one of the highlights on the capital’s sporting calendar, Emirates Motor Company is proud to once again be named as the official automotive sponsor of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA. It’s fantastic to see some of the world’s best golfers in action again and we hope they are all on top form to score as many birdies as possible to help us raise some money for an important nationwide cause.”

“The Drive for Charity campaign is an important initiative for EMC and is in line with ALFAHIM’s, CSR strategy and core values of Humanity and Commitment towards the country’s vision. We are delighted to be tying up with SEDRA this year to help us in fulfilling our mutual goals of enriching and further improving the lives of people in the UAE.”

The technical term for a hole played in one stroke under par is a ‘birdie’. During last year’s tournament approximately 1,500 birdies were scored in total, therefore if the players manage the same high level of golf this year, over AED 110,000 could be raised collaboratively.

With some of the best players in the world taking part in this year’s Championship, including Matt Kuchar, Henrik Stenson and Rory McIlroy, SEDRA Foundation looks certain to receive a significant boost.
